A small mistake while parking the two-wheeler meant that the left side of the bike was damaged as it took a fall on a concrete surface. So, the rear wheel's breaking mechanism and all other functions associated with the left side was damaged. I happened to drop this bike to an authorised service station which was around 2 kilometres from my home.
Post the handing over the bike for repair works, I had to find alternate ways of transportation to reach back to my home. Due to the present Covid scare I was quite averse to sharing the travel space through a six-seater or any other form of public transport. No personal service of an auto rickshaw was to be seen nearby.
I started walking back this distance that I have frequently covered through the two-wheeler and as I reached home in the next 14 mins, I was close to being tired tired.
As I was consuming the necessary fluids once I got home, I realised the usual walks that I take, the frequent routes and their possible distances. Almost all of them were either much longer or much more difficult than this simple 2 kms.
While walking as a kid it was either the joy of going to school or coming back home made the mode of transportation that much happier. As an adult, walks were with some purpose, exercise, pleasant company, or entertaining music in my ears.
It got me thinking and why this was a lot more taxing than usual?
Was it the 38 degrees heat ?
or the fact that I was not happy about the damage to the bike ?
or I could not find a personal transportation service ?
or the inane thoughts about the Covid scare while walking back ?
I can only conclude using the Einstein's theory of relativity, "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute."
We either see this Covid times as a hot stove or a pretty girl, we all hope that
THIS TOO SHALL PASS !!!
